I wonder how that’s gonna play out, IF it plays out. The main focus of the series are all leaving the school, so outside of some see-it-on-the-news-while-passing-a-tv moment like the teacher kissing the student WAY back when, I don’t see it happening.
This chapter seems a bit rushed to me. Alot got shoved in pretty quickly, and it was fewer pages, so it seems even more rushed. With Reiji’s thoughts last chapter and this one, all the joy in this chapter was kinda overshadowed. 2 pages overshadowed 30+ pages.
Wait, do you even get life insurance from a suicide?
I NOTICED THAT TOO! He may make it look like it wasn’t a suicide. He wants the money for Rin probably…I’m just distracted by his amount of self-pity that it really conquered this chapter.
Plot Prediction:
Reiji ends up in a coma.
Aki becomes Rin’s guardian.
Principal get fired. Shirai becomes principal.
All the teachers get new classes.

Yes, beneficiaries can get insurance money from a suicide, as long as the person suicided after the exemption period (depending on where they are, a period of 1-3 years from the time they buy the insurance. I think it’s 3 in Japan as of 2005).
Rin’s only 12, so even if she and Aoki were to get married when she’s 16 (which I doubt), if Reiji buys insurance now, the exemption period should have passed by then.
Not happy :/ You would think the chapter that they get accepted into the private school would be more “Okay heres a scene of them in the class taking the test”, “Heres them walking to the board to check it out”, “Now here’s more of a reaction then a hugging scene”. I guess I was hoping for more from this chapter…more than 16 pages anyways but still, thanks always for uploading translated pages!

Been reading KnD for a while, but I just noticed on this latest chapter that it is a commissioned release. It’s hard for me to remember everything that’s happened. But maybe we’re misinterpreting things. What did Rin’s mom die from? Maybe Reiji has the same thing. He may off himself, or die from whatever.
Then again, like I said, I’m sure there’s plenty that I’m not remembering.
Lung cancer, chapter 12. There haven’t been any indications that he has anything physically wrong with him. From ch. 85, it simply looks like taking care of Rin is his sole reason for going on or doing anything, and when he loses her to Aoki, he plans to “go be with Aki” because he just won’t have a reason to go on anymore. (He can’t take up a hobby or find a job he really enjoys? Though I guess he feels he himself isn’t someone worth living for….)

You hit the nail right on the head with that last bit. Reiji DOESN’T feel that he’s someone worth living for. As we saw in earlier chapters when he was beating himself up for being a borderline-pedophile and when he was using Aki’s (and later Rin’s) love to make himself feel wanted, he sees himself in the absolute worst light possible. He’s the kind of person who needs someone else to want him and love him to justify his own existence. Just finding a job or hobby won’t fill that hole he has in his heart from believing that he isn’t needed.

Wow, that must be the weirdest chapter I read so far – to me it has a ‘quicky’ feel; like KW was hurried this time to get it done and be over with it. No contact between Rin and Aoki at all either.
